Alternative To Microfiber Gym Towel

I use this Japanese traditional tenugui towel for yoga , and it’s the best gym towel I’ve ever had! Light, compact and dry quickly , tenugui towels are the perfect gym towels.

Most workout towels are made of microfibers. However, microfibers are polluting our oceans now…

Tenugui is a traditional cotton 100% Japanese towel. It is about 13 inch in width and 35.4 inch in length. It is a fabric with a plain weave. There is no looped thread like towels on its surface. Its edges are not sewn to dry easily. (new one has frays on both ends and you can cut them with scissors. It will stop fraying when its ends become about 10 mm long. ) Since tenugui have a smooth texture that is unlike typical Western terrycloth towels. It is thin and take up little space when folded.

It feels very soft and comfortable, and the quality is very strong and durable. It is very useful as a towel and dries quickly. It picks up the sweat from your body quickly, too. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a plastic free gym towel to wipe sweat during workout!

    Hi,

I’ve had a Tenugui for some time now and I’ve used it in so many different ways (towel, headband, head cover, etc…).
I decided to go to the gym and when I was preparing my gear I opted to see how the tenugui would work for sweat and took it for the gym today (and I sweat a lot). Let’s just say that I just ordered 3 more tenuguis for the gym. It’s amazing to catch sweat, super light and small (I just hand in from my shorts of hang it somewhere). Once I get home, a quick rinse, let it dry and it’s ready for the next day.
And best part of all, reminds me why I love traditional Japanese culture and why I want to visit some day.
