DIY Zerowaste Kitchen Sponge from cotton cloth


Do you know kitchen sponges are covered with mold and bacteria? Is my Sponge may be dirtier than my toilet? It’s awful. Instead of cleaning my dishes, I add bacteria to my dishes. Moreover, some research show cleaning my sponge is not effective. The best thing is to replace my sponge once a week, but It’s not good for environment.

I recently use loofah as kitchen sponges. However, it also fill with bacteria after uses. Bacteria loves wet places, but it’s difficult to keep my loofah dry. It wouldn’t dry out fast enough.

I found old Japanese people used to wash dishes with thin cotton 100% cloth before synthetic kitchen sponges came. That’s why I tried! It cleans easily and drys fast.It does a better job than the sponge, and I didn’t need to use any of the detergent . Quick drying prevents from bacteria growth. Easy to sanitize in the washing machine or boil wash . I have been using one cotton 100% cloth for over a month and I am very happy with it. It cleans well.
